Most contact lens prescriptions are valid for 12 months so it’s important you see your optometrist every year. An up to date prescription is vital to ensure the best fitting, vision, and comfort for your eyes. Your contact lens needs can change without you realising and newer contact lenses are being developed regularly, so there could be a better and healthier lens for you. Sphere/Power:

Also known as ‘Sphere’ or abbreviated as PWR/SPH, this refers to the amount of myopia (short-sightedness) or hyperopia (long-sightedness). This will be a positive or negative number and will often be different between the two eyes.

Cylinder and Axis:

Also known as “Cyl”, this refers to the amount of astigmatism. This will be a negative number and be followed by an axis between 1 and 180 degrees.

Base Curve:

Abbreviated as BC, this refers to the curvature of the contact lens (how steep or flat it is). This is usually between 8.0 and 9.0. It can be found near the power measurement, often adjacent to the diameter measurement.

Diameter:

Abbreviated as DIA, this refers to the size or diameter of your contact lens. This is often fixed based on the contact lens type and is usually between 13.5 and 15.0. It can be found near the power measurement, often adjacent to the base curve measurement.

Quantity:

This refers to the total number of boxes required for the right and left eye combined. It’s important to note how many lenses are contained in a box. Most contact lenses are sold such that 1 box will either be a 1 month, 3 month, or 6 month supply for 1 eye.

We offer free shipping on all orders with a 3 month supply for both eyes, or more, and charge only $5 for any orders under a 3 month supply for local delivery.

We also offer exchanges on any unopened products providing they are more than 6 months remaining before expiry date.

• The returned lenses must have been bought from Visionworks Optometrists
